Project's to Do

Creative Dance: Body  part movement variations: "Can you march with your arms up high?" "Can you clap?" "Touch your knee?" "Can you march bending one knee and keeping the other leg straight? On your tiptoes? Lying on your back with you feet in the air?" "Can you march backwards?" Low? High?" "Can you turn?" "Can you march in a square pattern on the floor?"  You can use time variations: "Can you march in slow motion?" "Can you march for seven steps and then freeze? Lets count together. "Now, march as fast as you can!" (Motor Skills)

A Rock in the Block:  Take children on a nature walk, have child pick up what interest them, such as pebbles and rocks leaves, moss, grass and so on. Back in the classroom gather a group of children in the block center. Have them work together to make  three large squares with blocks . In the first square, place a few rocks in the second, a few blades of grass, and in the third, several leaves. Have the children remove the contents of their bags, and place each object in a square in which they think it belongs. When finished let the children describe the items within each square. Have them explain why they categorized the items as they did. To extend this project, you could ask the children are the objects soft, hard rough and so on.
